The Joint Committee on Financial Affairs is the body charged with the fair and equitable distribution of Student Activity Fees. Student Activity Fees are charged to every undergraduate student in order to fund student organizations and enable programming which contributes to the general enrichment of the university community and an undergraduate student's university experience. The committee contains representatives appointed from within the Student Government Association Legislature as well as students at-large who can apply via an application process. Committee members draw on their diverse interests and experiences as they work together to interpret the University's Policy on the Disbursement of the Student Activities Fee and determine the funding priorities for student organization programming. Our goal has always been to fund a diverse range of programming that directly benefits the undergraduate student body. Likewise, the finance committee reviews and offers opinions on all legislation calling for the expenditure of Student Government monies or any other Student Government Finance related matters.
In addition to determining the funding priorities of the student activity fee, finance committee members serve as liaisons to specific organizations in order to guide organizations through the funding processes, and enhance the outreach of the Student Government Association so that we may better understand the changing needs of student organizations.
